Take a Per Diem Side Job  

The easiest way for a nurse to make extra money is to take a side job as a per diem nurse. These jobs are the most popular side jobs for nurses because they are often available at the same hospital where the nurse works.

Per diem work is essentially temporary work to cover open slots at a medical facility. So, a nurse who is on staff at a hospital and contracted to work three days a week can also sign up to work per diem on the days they are off.
