Are You Setting Up A Kitchen For A Large Family?
Did you and your husband come into your marriage after you had been married before? If so, that might mean that you now have a blended family that includes many children. Of, it might be that you decided even before you started having kids that you wanted to have a bunch of kids, kind of like they did in the olden days. Whatever the situation, if you are setting up a kitchen for a large family, from buying furniture to shopping for used restaurant equipment, here are some ideas that might help you.
The Furniture - Hopefully you have a home that includes a large kitchen and eating area. If not, you'll more than likely have to get creative in your furniture choices and in the arrangement of your furniture. If you are buying a table and chairs that will go in a large area, think about selecting a table that is large enough to hold a lazy Susan in the middle of it. Another idea is to buy a table with benches on either side, like a picnic table set up. If the picnic table is large enough, you can probably seat two more people on either end of the table. If you have a small room, still think about buying a picnic table type arrangement. The benches will probably hold lots of little bodies.
Used Restaurant Equipment - Think about going to a store that carries hotel and restaurant equipment. You'll probably be surprised at the many choices you'll find. For example, think of buying plain open stock white or off-white dishes and bowls and flatware. Of course, if you want fancier dishes, you'll probably find those at a used restaurant equipment store, too. By buying open-stock items, you'll more than likely always be able to replace lost or damaged pieces without having to buy entire sets. Think about looking for a toaster that has the capability of preparing several slices of bread at the same time. Are you interested in cooking meals ahead of time and freezing them for later use? Doing this will not only be convenient later, but you'll probably save some money buy purchasing food in large quantities. If you decide you want to do that, think of buying a used freezer that will hold large quantities of food, whether it's cooked or uncooked. Used restaurant equipment stores will also have large pots and pans that will be great for the amounts of food you need to prepare for your large family.
